Profile of KLPG College Library

A library is a collection of materials, books or media that are easily accessible for use and not just for display purposes. The Library is the heart and treasure house of knowledge and information of an academic college and it is an essential and integral component of every college.

The college has a well stocked automated library with rich stuff. The library has been developed since the establishment of the college 1969. The library has a collection of over 33254 books and 16 journals. The entire collection is placed into four section- Textbook section, Pure Reference section, Subject reference section and Thesis & Journal Section.

The library with its open access system, spacious reading room for consultation purposes provides an atmosphere conducive to study for students. A competent, polite and friendly library staff guides and advice the students regarding books and the library facilities. The library services of KLPG College are provided to students, staff and faculty members for academic support, supporting the research and teaching learning activities and updating the knowledge of users.

In the present era, the role of electronic media to update users cannot be ignored. So, the library has subscribed the database of e-books and e-journals viz. N-LIST.

Library Rules & Regulations

  • Members should enter their course; roll number, name, and date and entry/exit time in the library visiting register and sign in the same before exiting from the library.
  • Members should observe strict silence inside the Library.
  • Use of Mobile phones is prohibited inside the Library premises.
  • Members are not allowed to carry eatables/drinks inside the Library premises.
  • The members are instructed to carry their College ID cards and Reader Tickets on daily basis inside the library. All the members must show their identity cards at the check point while entering in the library.
  • All bags and personal belongings must be kept at the depositary. Members are advised not to keep money, mobile phones or any other valuable items at the depositary. The Library does not be responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings left on library premises.
  • The members should carry only essential stationery items inside the library. All the members must silent their mobile phones inside the library.
  • While leaving the library, members are required to show their files, file covers, books etc. to the Library Staff on duty at the Entry/Exit.
  • Issued Books should not be kept beyond the date marked on the due date from the library.
  • Borrowed books are not permitted to be taken inside the library unless they are to be returned.
  • Books borrowed from library or any other printed matter must not be brought inside the library.
  • Members are requested to check the condition of the book before getting issued. Any damage found in the books taken out for reading or borrowing should be brought to the notice of the staff on duty before getting issued, otherwise reader will be held responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed at the time of return the books.
  • Books borrowed should be returned in good condition and before the due date, failing which, fine will be levied as per the rules of the library.
  • Disturbing arrangement of books on stacks, misplacing books and misusing the library is punishable offence.
  • Members are advised to handle the books/ Journal very carefully; marking with pencil; writing or highlighting, tearing the pages the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously.
  • Students have to show college I-D Card and bank slip for taking library membership
  • Each student would receive only one Bar code Reader ticket. Student of B.A &B.com Course can issued 3 books on this reads tickets at a time Where as students of M.A , M.com and B.Ed courses can issued 4 books on that reader ticket at a time.
  • Books will be issued for 15 days only.
  • In case of loss of reader ticket immediately inform to the library staff. Students have to pay Rs 30/- as fine for reissuing the reader ticket.
  • Fine will be charged for not returning books on time.
  • Outsiders should have prior permission from the principal to enter or use the college library.
  • Loan of books is not renewable on the very same day.
  • If the book is lost, three times the cost of the book will be charged from the student.

Library and Information Services

  • Circulation Service: The library provides lending of books and other reading material to students and staff members.
  • Reference Service: Library has a separate reference collection consisting of Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Atlases, Maps, and Year Book etc. The staff also assists in use of Information Resources and services, OPAC Search, Access of E resource etc.
  • Newspaper Clipping Services: The Library has been compiling News Clips the Service collects all important, relevant and up-to-date news items, on different topics.
  • Information Display and Notification: List of current arrivals and other important notices of library has been displayed on notice board.
  • User Orientation: On the First week of each academic session, a common user orientation program of library about general rules regarding membership and use of library is conducted to students. Later on the Library organizes orientation of library resources and services Course Wise at the beginning of the new session every year.
  • OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue): OPAC provides information about the library collection. Users can search for an item of their choice in library holdings by Title, Author, Subject, Keyword, Publishers; call number etc. 01 OPAC terminals are available in the library near reception desk.
  • Previous year Exam paper Service: The previous year question papers for various courses are available in the Reference section of the Library for consultation of students and faculty.

  • N-List (INFLIBNET): The library is connected to N-LIST program of INFLIBNET. Library users can access e-Journals and e-books through N-LIST consortium in the Library via using internet.
