Kanohar Lal Krishan Sahai Inter College
(Since 1898)

College Introduction

K.K. Inter College is one of the oldest institutions of Meerut. It was established in 1898 as "Vaish Night School". In 1916, this school got recognition from U.P. Government up to class VIII. But in 1920 this recognition was withdrawn because the institution's teacher had actively participated in the Non-Cooperation Movement. However, the recognition was renewed in 1932.
In the meantime This School received 2200 sq.yards of land and Rs.5,000 as donation from local "Krishnarpan Fund" and the school was shifted to this land. The school obtained recognition for High School classes in 1938 and that for Inter classes in 1951. Thence to 1967 this college served the public of Meerut as "Vaish Inter College". During this period, the financial condition of the college as well as the condition of the building deteriorated so much that it became difficult to run the institution. The philanthropist Seth Kanohar Lal, committed to the cause of education, came forward for the resurrection of the old building and also got constructed a new huge building with an investment of Rs.2,28,250, an amount donated by his good self and by the efforts of his friends and relatives. Around the same time the U.P government issued an order with immediate effect to the Management all colleges, that if a college is named after some caste, then its name shall be changed. In compliance of this order, "Vaish Inter College" was renamed as "Kanohar Lal Krishan Sahai Inter College" on 16th July, 1967. The greatness of Seth Kanohar Lal lies in the fact that he did not drop the name of Sri Krishan Sahai who initially established the college. Starting with a strength of 553 students in 1968-69, the college has presently ___ students in the current session 2008-09 and is currently a Government aided institution.Only college in Meerut providing teaching of agriculture in high school and of Military science in Inter. Its NCC students have always had glorious records.
